Today was a fantastic day here in Vina Del Mar, Chile.
First off, I bought my tickets for spring break! I also found out that spring break doesn't actually exist. We get the week off in anticipation for the country's independence day which falls on September 18. However, there really isn't an equivalent for us United States students, so they call it spring break for us. I am officially going to Machu Picchu, Peru for the week. We are flying out of Santiago, taking a train over the border, checking out Machu Picchu, and then camping with indigenous people in a canyon. I don't know all the details of that last part, but I will def post the itinerary soon!
After planning group, we went to celebrate Gillian's birthday. Her birthday was yesterday, but we were all of skiing in the Andes mountains. Today we went and bought to large pizzas and headed out to the gorgeous beach that is located right outside of my house. Before you get too jealous, my foot almost froze off from the extremely cold water. Hugo and his cousin Dennis from the South of Chile met me at the beach to walk me home. It was so exciting meeting "family." The South of Chile is very expensive, so he said if I wanted to go travel down there he would be more than willing to lodge me! I am so excited, because they have gorgeous lakes, mountains, and, oh yeah, glaciers. I have a lot more exciting adventures to plan here in Chile!!
