Today was a LAZY day for Lauren! I had nothing to do at the school, so I slept in and chilled around the apartment. Today was my first laundry day, AND the first time I have even hung my clothes to dry. As I type, my clothes are currently hanging outside my window. I was soooo careful putting them up, because we are on the second floor and what a pain it would be to have to retrieve them. That was fun! Also, thanks to Mara, I entertained myself in my room while my clothes were washing with ZUMBA!! I had so much fun! I was trying to build myself up to go running today. It was just soooo cold!! I finally got myself outside, but I got sidetracked and walked up a hill where my new Church is. I just wanted to make sure I would be able to find my way back alone this weekend. However, when I got there it was open, so I went inside. I don't know what it was, maybe all my homesick feelings built up or something, but I felt this huge wave of peace just kneeling there praying. Good God Moment! It made me really happy. After I was finally inspired to run! YAY!!!
Tonight I invited myself to go watch my brother play soccer with his friends. It was amazing, because I met a Chilean girl!! She was so nice! She was there watching her boyfriend play. She asked me where I was from and what I was doing in Chile. Then we talked about school. She is studying to be a vet. It turns out she actually has family in California, and she is going to visit them in December. She has never traveled by plane before, and she is really excited. We talked about sports and the weather and places to visit here in Vina Del Mar. We had this amazingly great conversation, ALL IN SPANISH!!! It made me so happy! I understood almost everything she said, and she did an amazing job of understanding my horrible Spanish accent. It was an amazing night.
I am just having culture shock, because I am so not used to kissing everyone. EVERYONE. When I meet people, when I say hello, and when I say goodbye. So I have this really bad habit of being super awkward, because I forget I need to kiss people, so I need to rush to catch up with them, so I end up like smashing my cheek against theirs. So yeah, that's awkward Lauren in Chile for you. Of course, by the time I come home I will be a pro and then awkwardly try and kiss EVERYONE in the United States. Oh well, give and take I guess. Just prepare yourself for muchos besos!
