Today was an exceptionally fine day here in the country of Chile!
In my Chilean Culture class we discussed social classes here in Chile. Being a sociology major, that was really interesting for me! The amount of money considered to be rich here is actually below the poverty line in the United States, so it's really interesting to compare the cost of living in both places. On Monday we are coming up with lists of what is normal for a middle class family to own and pay for in our own country. We will end up comparing the United States, Chile, and Germany, so I am excited to see what that turns out to be. We are so fortunate to have all of the opportunities that we do in the United States!!
I got my first quiz back today in grammar, and, yay, we have another one tomorrow! Entonces, I am going to get on studying!
The best part of the day came this afternoon when our class let out. I was tired, and Mia invited me to go nap on the beach. Nap on the beach?? Count me in!! Mia, Sarah, Derek, and I went and just relaxed on the beach for a couple hours. Jealous yet? I walked along the coast wading in the water, which is still freezing!! However, after about twenty minutes my feet got used to the cold, and I wanted to jump in and swim!! I fought the urge and went back to watch Mia and Derek do handstands in the sand. It was a fantastic afternoon!!
